چکیده

Standard scene reconstruction methods attempt to determine the positions which visible elements of the environment occupy in space. Instead of determining where things are, we choose to model where things are not. We model the open space in a scene. This is accomplished by tracking a human participant moving in the environment. Based on the position of the tracked object and where it is visible to the cameras, a 3-D vacancy grid is modified which represents the empty space in the environment. This method can produce useful spatial models itself or can be used to complement other reconstruction methods. This thesis begins with a survey of scene reconstruction followed by a general description of this method and its advantages and disadvantages. Its application to a single camera system is illustrated by an example. The numerous considerations for extending to multiple camera systems are discussed. Possible applications and extensions are outlined and conclusions are drawn. Thesis Supervisor: W. Eric L. Grimson Title: Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Line of Sight (LOS) rate estimation in strap down seekers using discrete-time extended state observer.

The line of sight (LOS) rate is a parameter that is needed to calculate the acceleration applied to missiles by the proportional guidance laws in order to hit the target. This rate is usually measured using gimbaled seekers. However, if the type of missile seeker be strap down, the LOS rate must be calculated from deriving the missile's seeker output angles or estimation methodes. The derivatio...

Estimation of LOS Rates for Target Tracking Problems using EKF and UKF Algorithms- a Comparative Study

One of the most important problem in target tracking is Line Of Sight (LOS) rate estimation for using from PN (proportional navigation) guidance law. This paper deals on estimation of position and LOS rates of target with respect to the pursuer from available noisy RF seeker and tracker measurements. Due to many important for exact estimation on tracking problems must target position and Line O...

Computational time-resolved imaging

Classical photography uses steady-state illumination and light sensing with focusing optics to capture scene reflectivity as images; temporal variations of the light field are not exploited. This thesis explores the use of time-varying optical illumination and time-resolved sensing along with signal modeling and computational reconstruction. Its purpose is to create new imaging modalities, and ...

Non-line-of-sight Imaging with Partial Occluders and Surface Normals

Fig. 1. Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) imaging aims at recovering the shape and albedo of objects hidden from a camera or a light source. Using ultra-fast pulsed illumination and single photon detectors, the light transport in the scene is sampled for visible objects (left). The global illumination components of these time-resolved measurements (A,E) contain sufficient information to estimate the sha...

The Accuracy of Scene Reconstruction From IR Images Based on Known Camera Positions - An Evaluation with the Aid of LiDAR Data

A novel approach for the evaluation of a 3D scene reconstruction based on LiDAR data is presented. A system for structure computation from aerial infrared imagery is described which uses known pose and position information of the sensor. Detected 2D image features are tracked and triangulated afterwards. Each estimated 3D point is assessed by means of its covariance matrix which is associated w...
